“When I didn’t make the team for Rio, it was a bit of a shock”
31 March 2018 – 2012 Olympian Dan Purvis had to dig deep to keep motivated after being left off the British team for the 2016 Rio Olympics. But the prospect of leading the Scottish team at the 2018 Commonwealth Games spurred him on. We spoke just before the Games began.
“Winning the silver all-around medal at worlds was incredible”
30 March 2018 – Ellie Black has been a member of the Canadian women’s team for some years now, having competed at two Olympic Games (2012 and 2016) and several world championships. Her standout moment was winning the all-around silver medal at the 2017 world championships in Montreal. She also won five medals at the 2015 Pan American Games, three of them gold, including the all-around title – the first to be won by a gymnast not from the United States at this event since 1983. We caught up with her in Australia just before the Commonwealth games started.
